Today marks my second day at Lagardère Sports with no Wi-Fi. As horrifying as this might sound, it has given me a unique and amazing start to my internship that I never would have expected. Instead of being instantly on-boarded with paperwork and starting my work immediately, I had the opportunity to make connections with all of the other interns and meet just about everyone in the 35-person office. Spending all day today and yesterday learning about the company and the people in it, I could not have asked for a better chance to put what MSBA Co-Founder David Oestreicher preached to us yesterday to use. I was given the chance to “show how much I care” without focusing on work, connecting with both of my managers and with Sydney Kirby (MSBA Class of 2015).
“It’s Day 2 of MSBA 2016, and I can already tell this summer is going to be one for the books.”
After work, I grabbed bite to eat near my office with a good friend from school. I then made the two-block trek to Leverage Agency to hear from a four-person panel. They all told great stories and gave fantastic insight, but it was MSBA Co-Founder Ben Sturner’s story and demeanor that truly inspired me. As he went through the details of his story and how hard he worked to get to where he is now, I was shocked at how humble he was throughout it all. This is clearly one of the main reasons behind his success in his career, and is definitely something that I will try to carry with me throughout this summer and in my career. It’s Day 2 of MSBA 2016, and I can already tell this summer is going to be one for the books.
