It’s hard to believe that MSBA 2017 is just over the halfway point, but what’s harder to believe is the amount of opportunities the program has given us so far. The first 29 days have each flown by because every single one is a chance for a new adventure, a chance to learn something from an industry all-star, or a chance to hang out with friends who I didn’t even know at this time a month ago.
Over the course of the last month, I have had the opportunity to hear from individuals within every aspect of the sport industry you can think of, from more traditional routes like brand management, business development, and ticket sales, to nontraditional routes like PR, entrepreneurship, and social media. No matter their background, each professional has had a unique take on the sports industry, how they got there, and their advice for those of us just starting out. In addition to having great Speakers, the opportunity to visit the biggest brands in the industry, such as the NBA, Madison Square Garden, and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, has offered unparalleled insight into how these organizations operate and what they look for in potential employees.

Looking back at the first half of the program, I can’t help but be excited about the rest of the summer and my career moving forward. MSBA, in addition to my internship with LeagueApps, is truly preparing me for a career in an industry that is very hard to break into and stay in. I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer than in New York City with MSBA and 24 other future sports business all-stars.
