Day 18: Soak It In

Zach Wang 2016

Soak everything in because it truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

This MSBA summer will be impossible to forget, and I can’t believe the time has passed by so fast. We are almost halfway done with the program, and there is still so much more to do and explore with this awesome group.

“This MSBA summer will be impossible to forget.”

This summer, I’m interning at Jet.com for their Sporting Goods, Fitness and Outdoor team. Wow, could that have been set up any better? I am on a small team with three awesome managers looking to improve and grow the Sporting Goods assortment that goes live on the site. One of my managers, Marc Hostovsky, has not only taught me so much, but has also made work fun. This weekend, I have been jokingly tasked to come up with a cool team handshake.

Even though there were no MSBA events planned for today, New York just has too much to offer to sit around. I started the day off waking up at 6:30am to go to work. We had a scheduled field trip to Jet’s fulfillment center in Swedesboro, NJ to experience a day in the life at the warehouse. We learned how to receive, put away, pick up, and were even tasked with packaging and shipping real boxes.

After I got back to our Hoboken office, I immediately took the subway to Barclays Center for the NBA Draft. “Be where you’re not supposed to be,” said Mark Zablow, CEO of Cogent Entertainment Marketing, this past Monday. I took those words to heart, as a group of us managed to scavenge some front row seats near the families of draftees. This was definitely the most surreal sporting event experience of my life. However, the highlight of the night was meeting budding star, Buddy Hield, and seeing how down to earth and normal he was, being the only player interacting with the fans.

These past three weeks have been nothing short of memorable, and I can’t wait to see what MSBA 2016 has in store for us in the next coming weeks!
