David Oestreicher
Co-Founder

David is widely recognized as a young leader in education, media, sports and technology.

He is Co-Founder & President of REC*IT and serves as President of Business Operations for MOKO Social Media which creates, markets and supports award-winning mobile apps comprising the REC*IT family of products: REC*IT, REC*IT Fitness, REC*IT Plus and BigTeams powered by REC*IT.

David is Co-Founder & Managing Director of Manhattan Sports Business Academy delivering on a mission to identify, prepare and connect the next generation of sports business executives as conduit for key industry collaborators including CAA, ESPN, Madison Square Garden, MLB, NBA, NFL, Nike, Wasserman and WME/IMG.

He provides advisory services for organizations and individuals as Principal of DOC with a specialty in strategy, development and execution.

David was Global Business Development Manager for the NBA and General Manager of ACISF securing revenues totaling over $250M through partnerships with bluechip organizations such as Microsoft, Nike, P&G, PepsiCo and Sprint.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and was honored as top student with a 4.0 GPA in the Integrative Core Program.

David has been profiled by SportsPro as one of 10 young leaders in global sports business, spotlighted in The Wall Street Journal, named a Rising Star by numerous industry publications and enjoys guest teaching at Columbia, Harvard, Princeton and Wharton.

Apple has awarded REC*IT a Top 5 Free Sports App ranking on iTunes each year since launch and Manhattan Sports Business Academy received over 2,500 applications for 25 positions in 2016 following a profile by Forbes as one of the best ways to break into the business.

David is a proud graduate of Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati where he was an honor student and decorated athlete. He loves his family, friends, hometown sport, athletics, teaching and learning.

Ben Sturner
Co-Founder

Ben Sturner is the Founder and CEO of Leverage Agency, a premier brand, sports and entertainment company. Ben launched Leverage Agency from his New York City apartment, and, through his vision, Leverage has emerged as a leading agency for clients in the sports and branded entertainment industries. In 2010, the SportsBusiness Journal recognized Leverage as a top 5 agency in sales, property consulting, and client services.

Ben played varsity tennis and graduated from Boston University with a degree in communications. He has taught sports management at New York University and Columbia University, and has lectured at Princeton University, Indiana University, Brown University, and the University of Massachusetts, among others. Ben enjoys giving back and helping shape the next generation of sports business leaders.

Jonathan Blue
Co-Founder

Jonathan Blue is Chairman and Managing Director of Blue Equity, LLC. Blue Equity is a private equity firm with a diverse and innovative portfolio of business enterprises with concentrations in oil and gas, media, healthcare, defense, financial services, real estate, manufacturing, art commerce, and sports & entertainment.

In his role as Chairman, Blue oversees the management of the current holdings in the company. Blue also formed BEST (Blue Entertainment Sports Television) in 2005 and was successful in building through ten acquisitions one of the world’s leading sports and entertainment firms which was acquired by Lagardère Unlimited in 2010. Lagardère Unlimited is now a division of the Lagardère Group (PAR-MMB), a worldwide leader in media, retailing, aerospace, and sports & entertainment. Jonathan received a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Lorne Segall
Program Director

Lorne currently holds the title of MSBA’s Program Director where he’s responsible for strategic planning and overall management of MSBA’s annual summer program in addition to new brand extensions. His primary projects including spearheading and executing strategies for MSBA’s recruiting efforts, Internship Placement services, Mentorship curriculum, and Speaker Series & Professional Development programming. Lorne’s career trajectory and successes in elevating the MSBA brand can be directly attributed to his experience as a member of MSBA’s inaugural class in 2012.

In his young career, Lorne has already had meaningful work experiences in sponsorship, event management, brand management, social media marketing, talent management and business development. Most recently, he was a Special Projects Manager for Leverage Agency, where he focused on event marketing and logistics for Leverage’s retainer clients.

Lorne has completed internships in athlete marketing at Sprint Management and corporate sales and sponsorship at Lagardère Unlimited (now Lagardère Sports). He also had a brief stint with SDI Marketing in Toronto where he worked on sports-related brand management for PepsiCo brands such as Gatorade, Pepsi Max, and Ruffles.

Lorne graduated with distinction from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada with a Major in Marketing and a Minor in Accounting. While in school, he was involved as the Co-Chair for the 15th and 16th annual JMSM Sports Marketing Conference, Canada’s largest student-run sports business conference – of which he still advises to this day. He was also a Co-Founder of the Concordia Swarm, a campus club dedicated to creating and fostering school spirit around varsity athletics.

Lorne currently advises aspiring sports business leaders at his alma-mater of Concordia University and has also imparted his wisdom with students at McGill University, NYU, University of Georgia and Rutgers University about how to break into the sports industry. He’s a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan and may be the only Canadian who doesn’t follow hockey.

Bailey Weigel
Dean of Students & Marketing Manager

Bailey currently serves as Manhattan Sports Business Academy’s Dean of Students and Marketing Manager. She joined the leadership team as Marketing Coordinator in September 2015 following her own completion of the MSBA program.

Bailey’s unique perspective as a former MSBA participant puts her in a prime position to over-deliver in her role as Dean of Students, in which she is primarily responsible for quality control of the student experience. From the moment students are accepted into the program, through their transition into lifelong members of the MSBA Community, Bailey remains enthusiastic and committed to the overall satisfaction and development of the student body.

As Marketing Manager, Bailey spearheads the planning and execution of all MSBA marketing efforts, including market research, CRM, content generation and social media management.

During her time as an MSBA 2015 participant, Bailey worked for the PGA TOUR on The Barclays tournament staff, where she was single-handedly responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the tournament’s volunteer program. She has a comprehensive marketing background from previous internship experiences with a special concentration in web development, social media strategy and execution, and digital content management.

Bailey graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a B.S. in Business Administration and minors in Communications & Mathematics. She attended SUNY Potsdam on a full academic scholarship, where she also captained the Women’s Basketball team and played as a starter on the Women’s Lacrosse team, earning All-Conference honors in both sports.

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, Bailey proudly reps Cincinnati sports and eagerly looks forward to witnessing her first Bengals playoff win.
