One year ago, as two humbled participants of the MSBA Class of 2015, we were sitting in the EHS Library listening to Ben, David, and Lorne give their opening remarks. They told us that MSBA would be remembered as one of the best summers of our lives – looking back, they were absolutely right.
While we both knew that MSBA would be an incredible launch pad into the sports industry, we had no idea this organization would end up being the starting point for our post-grad careers. Now here we are, standing up in front of the MSBA Class of 2016, giving the same Orientation presentation we received a year ago.
One of the most incredible aspects of participating in MSBA was experiencing the rapid evolution of our relationships within the class over the short eight weeks of the program. On the first day of MSBA 2016, as we watched the students interact enthusiastically, yet tentatively, on our subway ride to dinner, we couldn’t help but smile as we pictured how different those interactions would be on Day 55. This was just one of the many moments throughout the night where we were reminded of our own transformations throughout MSBA, and became excited for the transformations we’ll have the opportunity to witness from a different perspective this time around.
When we got to Buffalo Wild Wings (our dinner destination), every TV was showing Game 1 of the NBA Finals – Warriors vs. Cavs. Queue another flashback to MSBA 2015’s Finals watch party in the EHS lounge area – same teams, different location. These are the kind of underrated moments that still get talked about in our group chat to this very day – the kind of moments that the Class of 2016 has already started creating together.
The Class of 2016 is comprised of 25 unique individuals, hailing from diverse places spanning Hawaii to India, who all share the same DNA at their core – a love for sports, a love for people, a passion for learning, and a strong desire to combine these traits into long and fulfilling careers. Not only do they share this DNA with each other, but also with the four generations of the MSBA family that came before them.
Here’s to the best summer yet. Welcome to the family, MSBA 2016.
